Smith Rosie - Face

Facts "Southampton born Rosie's family moved to Somerset when she was ten following the offer of a sports scholarship at school in the area. There she confounded her family and teachers by starring in the school musical and pursuing classical voice training. Rosie quickly developed a passion for music, saving up for her first guitar at the age of 13 and teaching herself to play.

Rosie's school days were not the easiest, and she found songwriting and music to be a the perfect escape for dealing with regular bouts of bullying.

It was whilst she was preparing for drama school that Rosie's prodigious talent came to the attention of her label X&Y Records, through a chance connection. Rosie's stunning song, 'Remember Me', inspired by Remembrance Day, was brought to their attention via a mutual friend and from that introduction, Rosie's recording career began.

A batch of singles including the critically acclaimed 'Dirty Harry' and a pre ""Stranger Things' version of the Kate Bush hit 'Running Up That Hill' have set the tone for the future .



Now at 22, Rosie is releasing her debut album 'Face'. This record is pure Rosie, likening the pull of emotions to the power of waves, rain and water. She describes this album as a kind of self-help guide for struggling young adults, covering love, friendship, upheaval and grief, the lyrics conjuring accessible metaphors from nature to describe each experience.

The songs are both personal and universal, inspired by people watching, traditional storytelling and her own life experiences. Rosie's life so far has been somewhat peripatetic and unsettled, involving not just the sudden death of a beloved mentor, but 13 house moves and a difficult time at school. Undaunted, she has packaged her responses to this bumpy ride into a sophisticated, mature and complex set of songs which belie her relative youth.
