Andi Almqvist - We're All Gonna Die But I Can Live With That (Black Vinyl LP)

Facts Andi Almqvist releases his seventh solo album, "We're All Gonna Die But I Can Live With That," on September 24. The record was recorded at Kleiva Studio in Halden, Norway, and produced by multi-instrumentalist Freddy Holm.

In Andi's own words:

"I met Freddy Holm at a gig in Norway and was invited to his studio. Since I had just released an album, I had no songs, so I suggested we re-record my old track "Can't Stop Laughing." Freddy changed a bunch of chords and built the grand production in no time. I realized that you have to strike while the iron is hot, so I wrote "She Jumps" to see if Freddy could also handle dissonance and skewed sounds. It was magical to watch him lay down the Hitchcock-style strings, going entirely on instinct, one take per string part. I was hugely inspired and driven to write the remaining songs in a very short time.

When the record was finished, we realized we had done everything in 2.5 months. A personal record! Working with Freddy is very easy, because he's a one-man orchestra. You can try anything without having to call in other people. String quartet? Freddy lays down all the parts. Moog synth? Freddy's got it. Thick distorted electric guitar? Freddy's your man. Pedal steel? Banjo? Harmonium? Yeah, you get the picture..

For some songs, such as "Antigonish" and "Alone And Forsaken," we wanted to record live, so we called American punk veteran Jesse Tomlinson, who played drums, distorted bass and electric guitar. When we needed horns, we called Bebe Risenfors. Incredible luxury!

I think the album feels grand without being slick, majestic yet skewed. It surprises even me, and I don't think that has happened since "Red Room Stories."

PS. It's Ted Bundy babbling in "Ted Talk."
