Various - Beat Generation

Facts THE BEAT GENERATION was something of a catch-all phrase in the 1950s, which encompassed Beatniks, Hipsters, nonconformist counterculture, bohemian hedonism, Greenwich Village folkies, and writers like Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Lucien?Carr and William S. Burroughs. Musically, it touched many bases, from late night Jazz to Rock'n'Roll, via film noir, Beat Poetry, cool Instros, and unashamed novelty material. This eclectic compilation covers all these and more, making this perhaps the perfect soundtrack to an imaginary "Beat Generation" documentary. Among a plethora of rarities included are Jack Kerouac, reading from the eternally cool On The Road; Beat Poetry from Kerouac, Phillipa Fallon and Lenny Bruce; classic mood pieces from Earl Bostic, John Barry, Hank Levine, Oscar Brown Jr, Keely?Smith and Mamie Van Doren; and cash-in novelty items from Edd 'Kookie' Byrnes, The Hollywood Argyles, and Bob McFadden &?Dor. Also featured are collectable rarities from The Bikinis, Jimmy Van Eaton, The Bee Hives, Bobby?Summers, and many more.
