BRENDA TAYLOR - You Can't Have Your Cake And Eat It Too

Facts As no strangers to the West End Records back catalog - both having taken on remix duties individually in the past - 2022 sees Michael Gray and Dr Packer combine forces to give two classics the rework treatment. Brenda Taylor's seminal 'You Can't Have Your Cake And Eat It To' is finessed into a contemporary disco standard with Taylor's voice still cutting through with plenty of soul while synth and pianos provide the groove. Flip to the B-side for NYC Peech Boys, where 'Don't Make Me Wait' cuts a slightly edgier tone, with acid-like bleeps and plenty of reverb making it a perfect counter track as part of this release.
