Cub Sport - Bats

Facts Format: 12" LP + bonus 7" (Solid Sky Blue 12", Purple 7"). There are a few records and bands that move the cultural needle, and even fewer that keep evolving beyond a moment in time. Cub Sport's 2017 sophomore album Bats marked a shift away from the indie music that dominated the airwaves at the time, toward the vulnerable, pop-filtered sound that has been everywhere since. Arriving in the lead-up to Australia's 2017 marriage-equality vote, Bats became a defining statement for a generation of queer listeners. It's an open-hearted record from a band who had broken through a year earlier with their much-loved Like A Version cover of Kanye West's 'Ultralight Beam'. Bats is the record where Cub Sport's signature sound crystallised. It's built on soaring melodies, delicate lyricism and a touch of gospel soul. From the swell of lead single 'O Lord' to the bass-led ache of 'Crush', the album follows Tim Nelson and Sam Netterfield's real-life love story as it unfolds in song. This Impressed reissue puts one of the band's most important albums back on vinyl. It's pressed on solid blue 12" vinyl, with a bonus purple 7" of three tracks never before pressed to vinyl.
