David Andersson - Råpunk:Birth Of Swedish Hardcore, 81-89

Facts The book RÅPUNK – The Birth of Swedish Hardcore documents the Swedish raw punk scene between 1981 and 1989. The second wave of Swedish punk was inspired by bands such as DISCHARGE, CRASS and DEAD KENNEDYS, and unleashed a furious, unique musical and visual attack that still influences punk fans around the world.
Råpunk captures the spirit and energy of the scene through unique photos of bands such as ANTICIMEX, ASOCIAL, AVSKUM, DISARM, HUVUDTVÄTT/HEADCLEANERS, MISSBRUKARNA, MOB 47, MODERAT LIKVIDATION, RAPED TEENAGERS, RÅVSVETT, SKITSLICKERS, SVART PARAD, SVART SNÖ, SWANKERS PMS, TOTALITÄR and many, many more. The book also documents those who attended gigs, organized demonstrations and squat occupations, and published fanzines, records and cassettes, all of which represented equally important creative and ideological parts of the scene. Råpunk also includes a large number of fanzines, posters, and record and cassette covers that capture the raw, expressive and important Do It Yourself design and philosophy of the raw punk scene.
The book is written by DAVID ANDERSSON, a member of the scene who served as editor of the fanzine BUBBEL-BAD and as vocalist in IDENTITY. The foreword is written by the legendary NAPALM DEATH vocalist LEE DORRIAN, who toured Sweden during that period and was also one of the few who booked Swedish raw punk bands in the UK.
Råpunk – The Birth of Swedish Hardcore fills an important gap, as this is the first time the Swedish raw punk scene of the 1980s has been documented visually in book form.
