David Bedford - Early Works

Facts David Bedford (1937-2011) was an English composer known for blending modernist techniques with poetic, expressive elements. Bedford began composing at just seven years old. After attending Lancing College, he trained at the Royal Academy of Music, and influenced by avant-garde composer Luigi Nono, he gained recognition in the 1960s for innovative yet accessible works. Highlights include Music for Albion Moonlight (1965), a vivid setting of Kenneth Patchen's texts for soprano and ensemble, and Two Poems for Chorus (1966), showcasing his imaginative, text-driven choral style.
