Elfman Danny - End Of The Tour

Facts Lakeshore Records' soundtrack album for the indie drama The End of the Tour. The album features the film's original music composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Good Will Hunting, Silver Linings Playbook). Also included are the songs from the film by artists including R.E.M, Felt, Tracey Ullman, Fun Boy Three and Brian Eno. The soundtrack was released on August 28. Set against the film's wintry Midwestern landscape, Elfman delivers a resonant and highly textural score that seesaws between glacial dissonance and subtle, glimmering optimism. A mix of dense strings, elegant piano, and strange glassy overtones, it manages to convey a feeling of heft while remaining surprisingly light on it's feet. Strewn between Elfman's cues are tracks by R.E.M., Brian Eno, Felt, Tindersticks, and others. The End of the Tour is directed by James Ponsoldt and stars Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, Joan Cusack and Ron Livingston. The movie tells the true story of Infinite Jest author David Foster Wallace, who committed suicide in 2008, during a book tour at the start of his fame and his rivalry with Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky, who accompanied Wallace on the tour. The drama premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
