Kirkbys - It's a Crime: Complete Recordings (CD, Digipack)

Facts "It's A Crime: The Complete Recordings by The Kirkbys" delivers the definitive anthology of one of Liverpool's most fascinating musical journeys. This meticulously curated collection showcases Jimmy Campbell's evolving songwriting from their early Merseybeat incarnation, The Panthers, through their transformation into the Byrds-influenced jangle rock outfit 23rd Turnoff. Featuring their rare Finland-only singles, their lone UK 45 "It's A Crime," and five previously unanthologized tracks making their CD debut-including Joe Marooth's alternate take on "Michael Angelo"-after being rescued from a literal rubbish skip. From Everly Brothers-influenced harmonies to chiming, folk-rock explorations, these recordings document a band that boldly pushed beyond Liverpool's musical boundaries. Expertly remastered and featuring extensive liner notes by Mark A. Johnston in a 12-page booklet with rare photographs, this Think Like A Key Music release brings together all known recordings of this criminally overlooked band for the first time ever. Essential for fans of British pop, Merseybeat, and '60s folk-rock.
