Månskensbonden - Svindel & Lågtryck

Facts Vasa's highest point, Öjberget, rises no more than 50 meters above sea level. Nearby is one of Ostrobothnia's major landmarks, Söderfjärden, a meteorite crater that today is mostly a large flat field of farmland. Trying to leave such a landscape, where the inland ice has ground down everything that tried to reach toward the sky, it is easy to get dizzy.

That is also what Månskensbonden feels on his third album, “Svindel & lågtryck” (Septembernatt). Having written one album about growing up in the sparsely populated countryside and another about returning, the trilogy is now complete. On the new album he leaves his Ostrobothnia behind, only to be swallowed by the waves of the English Channel, wander through the shadows of Chicago's skyscrapers, drift sleeplessly through Paris, and be lashed by the rain in Gothenburg.

The album was recorded with Henrik Oja (Säkert!) in Umeå, with members of Honungsvägen and Vasas Flora och Fauna, among others. A Kvarken record, plain and simple. On the album, Månskensbonden takes his starting point in the American storytelling tradition (“three chords and the truth”), but travels through the British new wave era before finally landing in contemporary Nordic indie pop.
