Rebel / Telemann / Vivaldi - Les Éléments

Facts The music on this double album explores the forces of nature, as vividly depicted by the composers at the turn of the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries. Jordi Savall's stunning (and première) recording of Jean-Fery Rebel's Les Éléments displays his unmatched vision of the baroque orchestral repertoire, proving that authenticity and timbral beauty aren't mutually exclusive. This classic recording, remastered for SACD, is paired on this release with brand new performances of similarly programmatic works by Locke, Vivaldi, Marais, Telemann and Rameau, all performed by Savall's acclaimed ensemble Le Concert des Nations. This varied and expressively wide-ranging collection is a welcome addition to the existing landmark recordings made by Savall in this repertoire.
