Dmitri Shostakovich - Katerina Izmaylova - Live Recording

Facts Katerina Izmaylova - Symphony for full Orchestra after the opera "Lady MacBeth of Mtsensk" by Shostakovich, arranged by Benjamin Basner. "The Katerina Izmaylova symphony is much more than an opera arrangement. It intensifies opera music to instrumental music, to a symphony exposing the perversion of power in a very direct and therefore highly penetrating way." Franzpeter Messmer.
