Steget - Till Längtan Och Horisonten (White Vinyl LP)

Facts From lonely roadside inns and abandoned dance halls echoing through dark forests.

From mirror-smooth lakes and disused train stations.

To packed, sweaty bars on Andra Långgatan.
To sunrise at an afterparty in Gothenburg's harbor, with the horizon as view and goal.
From loneliness to community, and above all to the feeling of finding home.

Several red threads woven through earlier releases continue to run through this album. All the songs share a strong common denominator, as always, and that is of course Nils' piano, steady as a glittering concrete foundation, and with it Matilda's heartfelt and direct vocals. But they have also set out on a journey into new musical terrain. Several songs dare to venture into new musical landscapes, and you can hear that they are curious about pushing past borders. They are in motion and still developing.

We get more songs with a groovy Gbg soul sound. There's blazing organ, raw brass, sweaty drums, more percussion, congas, shaker, and here and there everything is gilded with crackling, soul-scented guitars. It pours out so the keys fly, and much of it feels new and wonderful!

In between, as always, there's room for beautiful, aching and swelling piano, honest and vulnerable vocals, accompanied by strings and a tramp organ.

Stories of betrayal and sorrow, but also songs about hope, longing and great love. Being able to carry your upbringing and youth behind you and feel that you can dare to dare.

To believe in the future, the music, life and love.
