The Lancaster Orchestra - A Light That Can Brighten Up The Dark

Facts Ten years after a long break, Carl Mathson has breathed new life into his band The Lancaster Orchestra and recorded an album. The tracks on the album are all honest, introspective songs with a strong ability to move the listener.
"Ten years having passed feels completely unreal. I've lived day to day, with no long-term plans for so long that I've lost all sense of time. The days blur together, and life seems to be rushing right past me."

For nearly 14 years, Carl has struggled daily with severe pain following a car accident. Chronic pain and depression meant that for a long period he didn't have the strength to work with music.

"The last record was finished after the accident, and it took so much effort without bringing the rewards I had hoped for. So many dreams were crushed that I had to step away from music just to keep going."

After a few years away, including living in Germany, Carl moved back to Sweden, just in time to be laid off from his job due to lack of work at the start of the pandemic.

"Like most people, I spent my days in isolation. I drank too much and developed an almost manic obsession with baking bread. Eventually I had to start writing music again, partly as a way to pass the time, but also as a way to cope with how I was feeling."
