Ella Ruth Institutet / Various Artists - This Is All The Snow You Get Vol. 1

Facts For the first time since Bob Dylan danced around the tree in a Santa hat while miming to "Must Be Santa," this year offers the chance to escape the smooth, the expected.

Under the name "This Is All the Snow You Get," Ella Ruth Institutet has curated a Christmas album with 24 tracks. Spanning ambient, indie and pop, through country, and on to pure rock 'n' roll, the album is above all a showcase of musical range. It is also a demonstration of how Christmas music can, and perhaps should, sound.

The lineup includes, among many others, artists such as Pelle and Sole Ossler in a unique collaboration, Rebecka Sandberg, H. Self, Svart Smultron, EP's Trailerpark and, for the first time since 2001, The Thousand Dollar Playboys. Today, November 16, the first two singles are released: "Nu är det jul igen (så fly för ditt liv)" by Rebecka Sandberg and "Let It Snow," a mangle-rock interpretation of the finest kind from Flykten.

4 out of 5 in Dagens Industri by Jan Gradvall. "Maybe the best Swedish Christmas compilation album ever," he writes.
