Carrie Wicks - Reverie

Facts The original tunes are all revelations... musical and lyrical sophistication of the highest order. If you attached a name like Bacharach or Richard Rodgers to them you would not be surprised. - Hobart Taylor, KUCI. Original songs propel Carrie Wicks' fourth recording for OA2 Records. Several are co-written with co-producer Nick Allison, and others with Ken Nottingham, who, along with Wicks, are members of the Bushwick Book Club where literature is used to inspire compositions and then performed at unique musical literary events. Several of these songs are presented here with Carrie's shimmering quartet meshing beautifully with her intimate, burnished tone and conversational delivery. "Some Other Spring," a harmonically intriguing ballad recorded by Billie Holiday in 1939 and "Meet Me at No Special Place" from Nat King Cole's songbook are also included. "What a surprise her voice is: individualistic and alluring at the same time." - WWOZ, New Orleans
