Yo-Yo Ma - Simply Baroque

Facts Limited edition of 500 copies on aquamarine coloured vinyl. Includes 4-page booklet with liner notes. Pressed on 180 gram audiophile vinyl. Performing on a Baroque cello fitted with gut strings and played without an endpin, held between the legs to allow the sound to resonate fully through the instrument's body, Yo-Yo Ma delivers the warm, intimate and listener-friendly performances for which he is renowned, supported by conductor Ton Koopman and the period-instrument Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra in a distinctive program of well-known works by Johann Sebastian Bach alongside lesser-known compositions by Luigi Boccherini, where the softer tone of gut strings and the absence of an endpin create a more resonant and less dry sound that transforms these familiar pieces into a deeply immersive listening experience, elevating Simply Baroque far beyond a historical curiosity.
