H. Self - Efterskalv

Facts Henric Hammarbäck, aka H. Self, has always been country. Drawing on the American songwriting tradition, often with Dallas Frazier as a guiding light in part, Hammarbäck has turned his home in Telefonplan into Stockholm's southern suburbs' Music Row.

The debut album "Broken Live On" showed deep qualities in craftsmanship and musical confidence. In 2023 the follow-up, Country Songs, was released. An album praised by both the press and a devoted listener base.

Since Hammarbäck switched to the Swedish language and rooted it in the gray everyday life of Sweden, the success has been a fact. It is bold, straightforward and self-revealing. Like Bob Dylan at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, when he plugged in an electric guitar, H. Self now heads in a completely unexpected direction. In Swedish he embraces an entirely new style, a different soundscape. In Swedish, honesty is utterly bare.

The album "Skälva," released in 2024, can only be seen as a success. Three nominations for Manifest and one for the GAFFA Award, plus choruses of praise in the music press, and he is now releasing yet another album in his mother tongue.

H. Self's long-awaited follow-up "Efterskalv" is released on April 11, 2025.
